Young Adult Wilderness Therapy and the Power of a Nutritious Diet

We believe that students feel more confident to take emotional risks and to engage in community when they feel physically fit and safe in their own bodies. Emerald Arrow at Blue Ridge is committed to delivering our young adult students a balanced diet of whole foods and nutrient-dense meals every day! In addition to accommodating each client's dietary needs, restrictions, and allergies, the diet we provide is rich in antioxidants, anti-inflammatory and fresh, unprocessed foods that support students’ physical health and wellness.

Students in Emerald Arrow enjoy fresh fruits and vegetables every day, as well as proteins like chicken breast, ground beef and tofu. They learn how to prepare these offerings with a host of herbs and spices which can be found in most kitchens.

Throughout their stay, students cook their own meals using these fresh, healthy ingredients and taking note of creative recipes passed down from previous students.

To ensure that students learn how to prepare meals in a more traditional setting, we also utilize the commercial kitchen in our student retreat property, Anchor Point, for hands-on cooking classes and demonstrations!
