Covid-19

Covid-19 Information

As the world continues to face the difficult challenge of responding to Covid-19, please know that your child’s health and safety is our absolute top priority. We are closely monitoring the situation, following all recommendations set forth by the Center for Disease Control (CDC) and Georgia Department of Public Health. Our Medical Director, Dr. Jeff Dowis has provided us with protocols on how to most effectively screen for Covid-19 and how to mitigate spread of illness.

Given our nomadic wilderness immersion model, we have a unique ability to keep the woods a safe and contained environment, and we intend to do everything in our power to keep it that way, by limiting the exposure of outside contaminants to the field areas. In order to do this we are earnestly restricting contact by limiting field visitors only to clinicians and field instructors who have been screened and approved.

Our medical team is available at all times and is in direct communication with Field Instructors at a minimum of 2x per day. If any student shows symptoms of Covid-19, they will be separated from the group and assessed by our medical professionals.

Admissions Protocols

We are conducting admissions screenings, requesting information about the travel and exposure history of all potential students and their families.

Every new student will have screenings conducted at their initial physical exam, including a Covid-19 test, upon arrival.

Employee and Field Protocols

  • All employees who are not vaccinated are required to wear protective face coverings (mask) when coming into close contact with a student or another employee.
  • Masks are required for all employees and visitors while inside the BRTW Office.
  • Daily health checks on every student in the program, followed by first-aid or necessary medical attention
  • Robust hygiene protocols including frequent hand washes and foot washes, sanitation of eating utensils and vessels, and separation of each individual’s food supply.

We have taken additional precautions to ensure effective operation. We have stocked additional food, medical supplies, gear, and cleaning supplies, and sanitizers. We have enacted hygiene protocols that exceed standard practice.

Thank you in advance for your support and understanding.
